It’s My Party Cookies and Favors || Featured Friday

It’s My Party Cookies and Favors makes home baked decorated cookies for announcements, engagements, bridal showers, and weddings.

What is the inspiration for your business? How did you get started?

“Decorating cookies is like therapy for me. It helps me unwind after a long day and it fulfills my creative need. I’ve always loved a creative project. Since I moved to my community, I’ve made cookies for neighbors around the holidays. My neighbors are like my big extended family. During the holidays of 2018, I decided to try to make sugar cookies with royal icing . I was no where near perfect then but my oldest son really encouraged me to try again. Once I figured out a recipe my family enjoyed my oldest started asking if he could sell them to his friends. It was such a big hit that he suggested I start it as a business. And it’s been a beautiful adventure since!!”

When Erin told me the story about her son supporting and encouraging her to take her talent to the next level it was such an inspiration. Her son saw her potential and gave her the push she needs to make this hobby a business! If you follow Erin on social media you’ll see she is all about family. Her immediate family, her neighborhood family and her cookie family. I love how she soaks up the support and includes everyone in her endeavors.

Erin’s cookies look and taste amazing. I’ve seen so many beautiful designs by her! She has done Curious George, Swimming, Ladies weekend, pumpkins, travel themed cookies, dream-catchers, she’s done it all!

Beyond just doing custom orders, Erin also does decorating classes! You can sign up for one of her classes and leave with cute, tasty cookies!

What are your goals for 2019-2020?

My goal is to expand my business. While I still love and will offer custom decorated cookies, I would love to expand my class instruction options.

What is your favorite thing about a wedding day?

I love when the bride and groom walk down the aisle as husband and wife! The smiles on their faces, the love in the air, and the sighs of relief that this new adventure has begun! I also love watching and hearing the best man and maid of honor toasts. That’s always a good time. You never know if it will be silly or emotional, but it’s always a beautiful display of love for the couple.

Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most? And why?

My example is Georgetown Cupcakes! I love that they started as a small business and over time they opened a brick and mortar shop. Not just that but they sell product to grab and go from their shop! They did not compromise the quality or taste of their baked creations as they grew!

What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

“I am a full time stay-at-home mom of three children. Most of my non-work time is spent with them. We go on our adventures and create projects at home, but aside from my family time I also enjoy trying new restaurants to eat at, having creative experiences with friends (such as wood workshops, paint classes, floral arrangement workshops), and finding new musical artists performing in our area. “

If you were a flower, what kind would you be and why?

A lotus. A lotus flower grows in muddy, dark, and swampy areas but full grown they are beautiful, delicate floral masterpieces! “
