What is the inspiration for your business? How did you get started? My name is Tracy, but my husband and closest friends call me T. When I decided to start my own company, I knew I was going to call it Events to a T because of the play on my name. After over a decade of planning non-profit and political events in Washington, DC I decided to start my own company because I wanted to use my creativity more and it has been so much fun doing so!
Tracy is a mom of two, 5.5 and 3 year old, wife, and entrepreneur. When she isn’t working or spending time with her kids, she likes to read, drink chai lattes (yum), ride bicycle and volunteer at her kids’ schools. Like many of us, finding a balance between our personal and professional lives can be challenging. Tracy find that owning her own business allows her the freedom to be flexible around her personal life. She is able to go to her kids’ classroom during the day and make up work in the evening after the kids are in bed.
Tracy’s favorite thing about a wedding day is that it’s a happy celebration, plus she gets hugs from nearly everyone and eats cake-sounds like a pretty good work day to me! Her best advice to a bride-to-be is that they should hire a wedding planner because they will save you a lot of stress and possibly money too.
2018 is a going to be a big year for Events to a T, because after almost 3 years of part time work Tracy is taking it full time again! Tracy is expanding her business into event venue management, while continuing her hard with with The Village, which is sponsored by Events to a T series of co-working events + childcare around the DMV.
What company or business do you admire the most? And why? I love A Practical Wedding. It is a feminist company about only doing what you want, not following tradition simply for the sake of tradition. It is an empowering company I wish to emulate.
