My birthday was January 12th, and I was surprised by my brother flying in from Oregon to celebrate with me! We did the usual, staying up late, sleeping in, and driving to New York. Okay, maybe driving to New York isn’t the norm when family visit, but it was worth it! We left Virginia when I got out of Biology class at 2pm. We drove through Philadelphia to grab a Philly Cheese Steak from Geno’s Steaks. Can you say ‘delicious’?! Philip and my brother, Michael, also grabbed a Philly Cheese Steak from Pat’s, but I was too full!
Then onward to New York. We got there at about 8:30pm, then walked to Times Square. We walked all around town, probably 13/14ish miles. For a City that never sleeps, there weren’t many people out (after 10/11pm)! We stayed until about 6am. Then drove back to Maryland. It was a long, cold, fun night! Aside from Times Square, it felt like we had the city to ourselves.
So worth it, we will be taking more spontaneous trips this year!
