Every now and then, a professional experience comes along that not only fills your creative cup but also gives you a front-row seat to something truly special. For me, that’s exactly what capturing Viget’s Spring TTT Retreat felt like, for the second time.
It’s a three-day, two-night experience that brings their team together from all over the country to collaborate, connect, reflect, and have fun. This spring, the team gathered first at their Falls Church, VA headquarters, then headed to a serene location nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania: River Mountain Retreat in Everett, PA.
📸 This was my second time photographing TTT, and each time I'm struck by how intentional, vibrant, and passionate the Viget team is about what they do and about each other.
A Retreat with Purpose and Presence
What makes Viget’s TTT stand out is the balance they strike between learning, downtime, and celebration. This isn’t a corporate meeting stuffed into a hotel conference room. It’s an immersive experience where genuine connection is the goal, and every detail, from the venue to the sessions to the meals, supports that purpose.
This spring’s retreat took place at River Mountain Retreat, a modern, minimalist outpost designed for rest and reconnection with nature. The venue offers cozy cabins, wide-open skies, and the peaceful soundtrack of a nearby creek. It’s the kind of place that encourages you to slow down and actually be present.
Yes, cell service was limited (don’t panic, they have Wi-Fi), but that only added to the charm. Sometimes the best way to recharge is by unplugging just enough to really tune in to the people around you, to the moment, and even to yourself.
Capturing Connection: A Photographer’s Perspective
As a creative, being invited to document TTT was more than a gig, it was a privilege. Watching the Viget team interact with such warmth and energy, you can see why their company culture is often cited as a model for others in the digital space.
From informal fireside chats and creative workshops to team hikes and games, every moment was intentional, yet relaxed. It wasn’t about forced team-building exercises or rigid schedules. It was about creating space to just be together, whether that meant brainstorming on flipcharts or laughing over a shared meal.
Being behind the camera allowed me to see what makes Viget different: their deep-rooted belief in collaboration, their respect for each individual, and their ability to blend fun and focus in equal measure.
Why Team Retreats Like TTT Matter
In a remote-first world, team retreats like TTT are becoming increasingly vital. They aren’t just perks, they're investments in culture, creativity, and cohesion. Getting the entire team into one physical space, even just once a year, helps strengthen bonds, surface new ideas, and remind everyone of the bigger picture.
There’s something powerful about stepping away from daily tasks and screens and gathering in a place where the only distractions are stars in the sky or the sound of nature. That’s where real conversation and connection happen and it’s something more companies should consider making space for.
For those considering a similar experience for their team, I highly recommend looking into off-grid venues like River Mountain. The intentional design of the space—blending comfort with the outdoors, paired with a thoughtful agenda, creates an unforgettable environment for team growth.
Attending and capturing Viget’s TTT for the second time reminded me of the power of people-focused leadership and intentional design, in both business and retreats. Whether it was a deep-dive workshop, a spontaneous conversation on the deck, or the quiet moments of reflection beside the water, TTT was a beautiful reminder that great work starts with great people.
If you’re a company leader planning your next offsite or retreat, consider looking beyond traditional venues and think about how you can create space for your team to learn together, grow together, and celebrate together. And if you’re looking for a venue that inspires calm, clarity, and creativity, River Mountain in Everett, PA might just be your perfect spot.
