Newark, New Jersey || Our Life || Travel

On Friday night we set out for New Jersey. Philip got home from work, we tidied up the house and then went on our way. The drive was easy until we got about half way through the New Jersey turnpike, then traffic came to a halt. It was raining, thunder and lightning… I loved it! I had guessed that a motor vehicle crash happened ahead of us and we would be moving again soon. After waiting a while with limited cellular service, we pulled up the Waze App to see that the turnpike had flooded out. We waited a few hours, and crews were able to clear the flooded area and we were back on our way. Luckily everyone was safe, and it was a mere inconvenience.

We booked our hotel last minute because we originally planned on driving up to New Jersey Saturday morning. Oh, I forgot to mention why we went to New Jersey! We had tickets to Sugarland! So, we were going to their concert, Frankie Ballard and Lindsay Ell were the openers and we were stoked to go! Thursday, we decided to drive up the night before and enjoy a night away. It was a fantastic decision. We laid low and relaxed until the concert.

Lindsay Ell was adorable! And of course, Frankie Ballard didn’t disappoint. Sugarland put on a real show! It was a great night!

We drove home after the concert, cranking tunes and playing games.

It was a fun weekend!

Here are some photos from the trip and from of our hotel. The Double Tree by Hilton. I loved the geometric shapes, and the cool décor!
